Flashing
Flashing is the metal that seals every place your roof is interrupted — chimneys, walls, valleys, skylights, vent pipes and dormers. It is the single most common source of roof leaks, and it is where cheap roofing jobs are cheapest.
Odessa Roofing fabricates flashing in copper, stainless and painted metal, including chimney counter-flashing, chase tops, crickets, coping, pipe flashing and step flashing. On a chimney we cut counter-flashing into the mortar joint rather than surface-sealing it, and where the chimney is wide enough to trap water on the upslope side we build a cricket to divert it. Done properly, flashing lasts as long as the roof it protects.
