Copper Roofs
Copper is the material we're best known for. Odessa Roofing fabricates custom copper roofing, bay and dormer roofs, porch roofs, valleys, gutters, chase tops, crickets and decorative borders — much of it formed by hand for the specific house.
A copper roof is a lifetime installation. It weathers from bright penny to a deep chocolate brown and finally to the familiar green patina over decades, and it requires essentially no maintenance in between. Because copper is soldered rather than sealed, the workmanship is permanent — which is exactly why it demands a crew that has done it many times before. Our copper work appears on historic homes throughout Lexington and on new construction where owners want a detail that will still look right in fifty years.
How a copper roof weathers
Copper is the one material that keeps changing after we leave. It arrives bright and ends up green, and every stage in between is part of the finish.
- Bright penny As installed
- Russet Months 1–12
- Chocolate Years 2–10
- Dark bronze Years 10–25
- Green patina Years 25+
